OUR TEAM

Michael Herklots

Michael Herklots is co-founder, co-owner and blender of Ferio Tego and has worked in the premium cigar industry since 1999.

Herklots began his career while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston. After graduating with a degree in Drum Set Performance, he moved to New York City and joined Davidoff of Geneva, ultimately overseeing the company’s New York retail operations during a nine-year tenure.

In 2011, Herklots joined Nat Sherman International, where he ultimately served as Vice President. During his tenure, he created the Timeless Collection, the modern Epoca, Metropolitan Habano and Metropolitan Host Maduro, along with Nat Sherman limited editions beginning in 2012. He was responsible for developing and maintaining the company’s portfolio of premium cigars, working closely with manufacturing partners and tobacco producers in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras.

Following the closure of Nat Sherman International, Herklots and longtime colleague Brendon Scott founded Ferio Tego in 2021 and acquired the Timeless and Metropolitan cigar brands, among others. After an interruption in production, Herklots worked with the original manufacturing partners to restore and remaster the portfolio for its return to market while simultaneously developing the new Ferio Tego brand.

Today, Herklots leads blending and product development for Ferio Tego. With the exception of the original Metropolitan Connecticut, Maduro and Host blends, every blend currently offered by the company was originally created by Herklots. He has since personally worked to restore and remaster those three legacy Metropolitan blends as well.

Herklots is a Certified Master Tobacconist and remains active throughout the premium cigar industry.
